My favorite person in the world

My niece is 5 and pretty much the shit.  She's smart, funny, gorgeous, and the person I'd most like to hang out with whenever given the opportunity.  This past week I was able to go to Boise for a work trip and spend Easter with my family.  It was a much needed visit home, and although I enjoyed my time there, my heart broke on the last night when my niece very sincerely asked me if I was ready to move back to Boise again.  When I told her, "not yet," she burst into tears and asked me why I left her.

Heart.
Broken.

I really hope that someday she'll understand that she's the one I moved for.  I want to tell her when she's out of school and old enough to chase her dreams to do it.  Not because I didn't, but because I did and it was the best decision I ever made.

Epic Weekend

A couple months ago a few friends and I decided to start a Brunch Book Club.  We all love brunch, we all love books, and we all love to talk.... so this was the perfect idea!  Every few weeks we get together at a new brunch location and discuss a book from our list.  This month was the book "Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes (review coming soon) and brunch at Tasty & Alder.  It was great, and the perfect way to kick off my weekend!

On Sunday I went for a lovely hike with Bee and Kevin in the Gorge.  As we were driving down I84 toward the Eagle Creek trail head, Kevin commented on how lucky we are to live less than an hour's drive from such amazing scenery and I couldn't agree more!  The Gorge is gorgeous (hehe) and so green.  I love hiking through all the greenery, enjoying all the moss and viewing so many pretty waterfalls whenever I want.  One of my favorite things about living in Portland is having the Gorge so close.
